Excessive Perspiration
Sweaty armpits causing you problems? Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) is a common problem, and managing underarm sweat issues and the negative impact on your body, clothing, and self-confidence can be messy, time consuming, and costly, but there is a solution!
Hyperhidrosis Treatment
BOTULINIUM TOXIN– Clostridium botulinum type A neurotoxin complex – is used in adults to manage excessive sweating of the armpits, which does not respond to topical treatment with antiperspirants.
Sweating is controlled by the brain, which sends signals along nerves called
“sympathetic nerves” to the small sweat glands in the skin. These nerves are part of
the “autonomic nervous system” which controls many unconscious body functions.
BOTULINIUM TOXIN works by blocking the nerve impulses to sweat glands , which stops them from producing sweat.
Your doctor will inject a certain amount of BOTULINIUM TOXIN into 10-15 sites of the skin area of the armpit affected by excessive sweating.
You will generally see an improvement within the first week after injection. Your doctor will give the next injections when the effect starts to wear off. Injections should not be repeated more than every 16 weeks. The effect usually lasts, on an average, 7.5 months after the first injection with approximately 30% still seeing effect after one year.
